Western Equestrian Society

The Western Equestrian Society (WES) was formed in 1985 to promote the discipline of Western Riding to the standard as practised in the United States. We promote the sport for enthusiasts at all levels, whether pure beginners or seasoned competitors. You can enjoy all of our ridden activities with ANY breed of horse or pony. Members participate with Highland ponies, Welsh ponies and cobs, traditional cobs, Haflingers, Arabians and also the various western breeds. In fact, you name the breed and there’s probably a WES member out there riding it in a western saddle! We like a bit of variety!

Membership

Membership of the Western Equestrian Society brings many benefits at a very reasonable cost.

Here at WES we cater for all levels of riders, and ALL breeds of horses ALL over the UK. We truly believe in the values of friendly family like support that we can give our members through our extensive regional network of WES Area Representatives.

By joining WES, you’ll instantly become part of this network and have access to local and regional events such as shows, clinics, training, advice and other fun events.  Members will also receive a quarterly magazine giving you all the news from all the regions.

PLEASE NOTE: Membership does not include any insurance coverage for you or your horse, (public liability/third party, personal accident or any other type of insurance). It is the member’s responsibility to obtain their own insurance, particularly public liability/third party cover, to be eligible to attend any WES riding events.  For clarity, the WES insurance policy only covers people operating for and on behalf of the society, e.g. those organising and helping at events.

For professional riders, coaches and trainers, membership of WES will also offer you the chance to be included on our instructors list, WES recognizes Western training qualifications and each year checks all insurance, and first aid documents.

There are different yearly memberships available to prospective members:

  • Family Membership: (a maximum of two adults and children under 19 years on 1st January of the current year, all must be residing at the same address) £60
